Already one of the top guards in the class of 2016, junior Trent Forrest still feels like he has something to prove and that there is much more for schools to learn about him.
Ranked the No. 75 player in the class of 2016, the 6-foot-4 shooting guard from Chipley (Fla.) High feels like where he's come hurts him a little bit but he's plugging away and showing what he can do.
"I'm a sleeper and I'm from Chipley where it's not that big so I don't get the same respect as people from big cities," Forrest told Rivals.com. "I think I play defense real well and I match up with any guard because I'm a big guard. I feel like I can get to the rack when I want to."
Make no mistake about it, Forrest can play as ruggedly as any guard in 2016. He thrives in transition, can defend multiple perimeter spots and he is strong when he attacks the rim off the dribble. He knows that his game would really take off by improving one key area.
"I've been working a lot on my shot and getting it right," said Forrest. "I want to be able to pull up and shoot it when I want to. It's been mostly repetition and getting in the gym and finding my spots where I'm comfortable."
Though Forrest feels like being from a more populated area would help his recruitment, it isn't as if he is struggling for attentin.
"Texas A&M, Miami, Florida State and Stanford have all been coming pretty hard," said Forrest. "Florida has been on me some too.
"Wichita State, Florida State, Miami, UCF, Tennessee and a lot of mid majors have offered."
Forrest says that he is in no hurry to make a decision and that he is happy to keep working on his game while attracting more attention. Ideally, he'd love to add more point guard skills but he is comfortable being recruited as a shooting guard, point guard or somewhere in between."
"I think coaches just like me as a guard. I can score if I need to or set up my teammates. So either one, I'm comfortable with them recruiting me as that.
