Kira Lewis just finished off what was a terrific season for the No. 108 prospect in the 2019 Rivals150. The 6-foot-3 guard led Hazel Green (Ala.) to the state semifinals and averaged 27 points, five rebounds and three assists along the way.

He’s become quite the popular target in the southeast as well and lately his recruitment has expanded into Big 12 country. He mentions Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, Georgia, Georgia Tech, LSU, Oklahoma State and Tennessee along with a few others as the schools he’s been in contact with lately. He’s visited Alabama, Auburn, Baylor and Tennessee during his junior year.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

Lewis talked about some of the schools he’s visited recently, and if it would be hard for him to leave Alabama at the next level.

Alabama: “I like Alabama a lot. They are recruiting me hard. I was happy to see them get the win over Texas A&M. It showed they can compete with the best.”

Auburn: “They had a great season. Nobody expected them to be doing what they have done. Coach (Bruce) Pearl definitely has changed that program around and I can’t wait to see them play Alabama.”

On whether he feels pressure to stay in Alabama: “No, I don’t. The people around where I’m from just want to see me do well and do what’s best for me.”

Baylor: “I love Baylor’s campus. That was my first time there. They haven’t had the best season, but they always compete with the best. They play in one of the best conferences.”

Tennessee: “Basically the same thing as Auburn. Coach (Rick) Barnes got the Coach of the Year. He turned the program around a lot and brought in good talent.”

RIVALS' REACTION

It will be very interesting to see how the recruiting process plays out for Lewis. He’ll be playing with the Georgia Stars this summer and will have a lot of eyeballs on him the next several months. Alabama, Auburn, Baylor and Tennessee have made strong impressions on him early.

There will be lots of pressure on Lewis to strongly consider staying in Alabama at the next level, whether it’s Auburn or Alabama. Bruce Pearl and Avery Johnson are both very capable recruiters. If he does get away, Tennessee could be one to watch. The Volunteers tied Auburn for the SEC regular season title and Lewis seems to be buying what Rick Barnes is selling. With Baylor, it was very important for them to get him on campus early. Scott Drew is no slouch on the recruiting trail either, so don’t sleep on the Bears here.
