Four-star junior in demand already

RANKINGS: Class of 2014 - 2015 - 2016
Last Tuesday marked the start of the contact period for college basketball coaches. The first few days are always important because coaches make it a point to go see the recruits at the top of their boards. For that reason, Indianapolis Lawrence Central shooting guard Kyle Guy should feel pretty good about where he stands with the schools recruiting him.

"I had 10 schools come see me on Tuesday and I had four more come in on Thursday," Guy said. "Saint Louis, Iowa, Iowa State, Indiana, Purdue, Butler, California, Missouri, Colorado and a few more came in. N.C. State, Xavier, North Carolina, Michigan and I'm sure some of the Indiana schools will come back this week. All the Indiana schools are recruiting me really hard along with Virginia and Iowa."
Guy plans to start taking unofficial visits next month to Iowa, Iowa State, Ole Miss and Virginia.
Ole Miss head coach Andy Kennedy offered Guy pretty early in the process and told the sharp-shooting off guard he could follow in the footsteps of one of the most polarizing players in college basketball if he goes there.
"They were one of the first schools to offer me and they basically pitched to me that I could be like Marshall Henderson without all the head issues."
Indiana is another school that will likely receive a visit from Guy next month when practice starts.
"I like them a lot. They are obviously close to home. I like their style of play with the ball screens and how they get up and down the floor. I'll hopefully be able to get up there for Hoosier Hysteria."
Guy says Indiana's in-state and Big Ten rival Purdue is recruiting him the hardest at the moment.
"They are honestly probably recruiting me the hardest. They brought three coaches to see me last week on the first day coaches could come out. I like them a lot."
Guy sees Butler as a place that he could fit in, on and off the court.
"I feel like I would fit in very well with their style of player. I really like Coach [Brandon] Miller and his staff a lot. I like that they have a past of winning."
Virginia started to take off as a program under Tony Bennett last year and caught the attention of Guy.
"I like Virginia a lot too. I like Coach Bennett a lot. I like their style of player. I'm hoping to go on a visit there sometime in October. They are in the ACC too playing against the best competition so that catches my eye too."
Guy, the 60th ranked player in 2016 Rivals150, is just a junior and won't be deciding on a school any time soon.
"I'd probably say I'll commit around this time next year, but that could always change. I'll probably cut it down after next July, take my official visits, and then commit. I'm looking for a good academic school, a school that is a basketball and has great fan support."
