Huell, the No. 32 prospect in the 2016 class, is a 6-foot-10 power forward at Miami Norland High School in Miami Gardens, Fla. Once known as a rebounder and shot contester, this spring Huell was hitting mid-range shots and using a variety of post moves while running the floor smoothly, controlling things in the paint plus grabbing rebounds in and out of his area.
"I'm quicker and stronger," Huell said of his improvements. "I've been in the weight room a lot, and I'm playing more physical on the court. I'm working on my ball handling, my speed, jumping quicker off the ground and being more physical."
The Miami native was quite busy this spring as Breakdown played in the Pitt Jam Fest, the Wallace Prather Memorial and the Under Armour Invitational. Huell also participated in the Adidas Nations in Chicago in March and in Miami in May.
"Spring went well, it could have been better but it went well," Huell said. "Adidas Nations was a pretty good experience, playing with all the elite players from around the country. I just go out there and play hard every time I step onto the court."
Miami Norland head coach Lawton Williams said that Florida State, South Carolina, Miami (Fla), Florida and Louisville are among the schools that have offered scholarships and are the schools he hears from the most regarding his four-star power forward. In a few days, Huell will start hearing from coaches from those, and many other schools, and said he'll have to let the coaches know how frequently to text and call him.
"I'm not ready for it though," said Huell of coaches calling and texting him. "They're already calling a lot to talk to my coach about me. I'm busy a lot; plus I'm trying to stay focused."
Speaking of busy, Huell will attend the Elite 100 Camp this week, the NBPA Top 100 Camp next week, he may attend a team camp with his high school team at the end of the month. In early July, Huell may be attending the Reebok Breakout in Philly.
