Four-star guard Zach Harvey reaching a new level

A rising junior and top 60 prospect in his class nationally, shooting guard Zach Harvey has always been skilled, but he's added a new dimension to his game.

Over the last six months or so, the 6-foot-4 shooting guard has gotten much more athletic and his game is changing because of it.

"It gives me another option in my game to be able to play above the rim," Harvey told Rivals.com. "I feel like I've been working out a lot and I'm a lot quicker and more explosive and that helps out my game tremendously."

Over the weekend, Harvey was cut at the USA Basketball U16 National Team tryouts, but the experience there and playing against other top talent with KC Run GMC on the Under Armour Association circuit is important.

"It's very important to go out and experience competition," said Harvey. "That's how you get better. I appreciate playing against the best because you get a reality check sometimes when you see how well people are doing around the country."

Harvey has landed offers from Creighton, Iowa, Kansas, Kansas State, Nebraska, Northwestern and Wake Forest. From the sounds of it, some schools have been a little hesitant over fears that he will be tough to pull out of his home state.

"I think it has happened a little bit that Kansas has scared off other schools, but not too much," said Harvey. "I talk to Kansas probably once a month or so. We have a good relationship. It's probably the same way with Kansas State."

Harvey also discussed some of the regional programs that have been making him feel like a priority.

Creighton - "They are always reaching out. They are always asking how I'm doing and I always appreciate that they want to know how my family is doing and don't just talk about basketball. I like how they run their program and like their coaching staff. I had a chance to go out there and I liked it a lot."

Iowa - "They are a pretty good program too. I haven't gotten to go out there yet but they have a nice coaching staff and I appreciate all of them and their approach with me."

Nebraska- "They do the same thing as other schools mostly. But their coaches have all reached out and that's nice. I went there for a football game and it was pretty good."

The way things stand, Harvey isn't a kid who is going to be making an early decision. He's remaining open and is at least a year away from getting serious about cutting things down.

"I think I'm going to cut my list of schools to 10 towards the end of next summer," said Harvey. "There's no reason to hurry anything right now."
