Robert Cowherd was one of the bigger stock risers out of Georgia in the 2022 with a really strong sophomore campaign. The 6-foot-4 shooting guard averaged 23 points and 6 rebounds for Denmark High School and helped lead his team to the semifinals of the 4-A state tournament where they were defeated by five-star big Walker Kessler and his Woodward Academy team, the eventual champions.

Along the way, Cowherd added an offer from the in-state Georgia Bulldogs. He’s also had interest come in from Clemson, Florida, Michigan State and a few others. He’s been on campus at Georgia and Michigan State so far.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

The sophomore guard discussed the programs he's heard from and who else he would be interested in.

Clemson: “They contacted my coach. We were supposed to go up there to watch a practice, but it never worked out. It’s a good program. I watched them a little bit because I like watching Chase Hunter play.”

Florida: “I don’t really know much about Florida, but I would like to go down there and see what their program is about.”

Georgia: “I liked it. It was nice. I liked the coaches. I talked to all of them. They told me they would get me ready and take care of me.”

Michigan State: “I went up there and I really liked it. It was last summer. I like Coach [Tom] Izzo and the whole program. I got all my family up there and they are big Michigan State fans.”

Schools he would like to hear from: “Of course Kentucky, Kansas and all the big ones, but I would like Auburn and Tennessee and schools like that. Auburn has a good program. I like structure and they have a structured program. I’m really open to any schools and want to see what they are all about.”

RIVALS' REACTION

Cowherd admitted the offer from Georgia being the first one means a lot to him and he’ll always remember it. Michigan State will always be a factor here too if they offer him a scholarship due to his family and the strength of the program.

Given his trajectory of improvement over the past year, expect Cowherd’s list to grow significantly whenever he can get back on the court in front of college coaches. He’s a strong, athletic wing with a really nice stroke from three-point range that can also get to the bucket and finish. He’s tough on the boards for a guard as well. It wouldn’t be a surprise for him to have over a dozen high-major offers at this time next year.
