Alabama's 2016 recruiting class now stands at three with the addition of four-star forward Braxton Key.
The 6-foot-7 senior combo forward at Mouth of Wilson (Va.) Oak Hill announced on Tuesday that he'll play his college ball for new coach Avery Johnson.
Ranked No. 71 overall in the 2016 Rivals150, Key is a versatile forward who will be able to play on the wing or as a playmaking power forward on the college level.
Key's strength is handling the ball in the mid- to high-post and extended out to the wing from those areas. In those spots, he is a quite competent ball-handler and an outstanding passer who can take opponents off the dribble and make things happen for himself or others.
Because he's such a good decision-maker with the ball, some offense can be run through him and he is able to help take pressure off of the guards. A good athlete, Key has a solid 205-pound build and will be physically ready for the rigors of SEC basketball. Moving forward, Key must continue to address and work on what is currently an inconsistent jump shot.
Key joins a class that is heavy on wing assets. Five-star shooting guard Terrance Ferguson is in the fold along with three-star junior college wing Ar'Mond Davis.
