The recruitment of four-star forward Hudson Greer remains in its early stages. The 2025 prospect won’t make a decision until next year, so it’s not as though any sense of urgency has taken hold. Greer is in the process of taking visits, however, so a few schools have surged to the forefront of his process.

Below, Greer discusses which programs are in the mix and which visits he hopes to take in the coming months.

ON WHERE HIS RECRUITMENT STANDS:

“Things are good. I’m really just trying to go on my visits and really see how I’m feeling about all these programs right now.”

ON UPCOMING VISITS:

“I’m always at Texas because it’s close to home. Aside from Texas, I’ve been to Arizona so far … and UCLA.”

ON ARIZONA:

“It’s really pretty, for sure. Going out there and seeing it was nice. I always knew I was going to be good with the basketball stuff because Tommy Lloyd is a really good head coach. Off the court, I wasn't really expecting it to be as beautiful as it was. I was expecting nothing but desert, but it’s not that. There are palm trees everywhere and everything looks really nice.”

ON ARIZONA JOINING THE BIG 12:

“They talked it up and told me about the level of competition I’d get to play there. In the Big 12, you have Kansas and everyone else. If I go there, I’ll get to play (against) all these great schools.”

ON A POSSIBLE OFFICIAL VISIT TO TEXAS:

“We’re looking to set that. I’ll either do it at the end of October or push it into January. It’s just about schedules – if it works out with us and them.”

ON UPCOMING VISITS:

“I have an official to Creighton coming up in December.”

ON CREIGHTON:

“They’re telling me how much they care about basketball. Everything there is just straight basketball. There’s no football. It's just hoops and the Big East. It sounds like an amazing place because everyone is so focused on the basketball team, so every game is packed.”

ON SCHOOLS FROM WHICH HE HOPES TO LAND OFFERS:

“I’m not too sure. I have been hearing little bits of chatter about Duke. Maybe Kansas, too. I’m just happy with what I have for now, though, and I’m focused on what I have.”

RIVALS' REACTION

For now at least, Texas has to be treated as the team to beat when it comes to Greer. That said, it’s early in the 2025 star’s process and visits could change things. So too could bluebloods such as Duke or Kansas becoming involved.

The Longhorns have formed an early connection, however, and the bond with the in-state program won’t be easy to break. Look for UT to be among Greer’s finalists when they are announced. What happens beyond that, is anyone’s guess at this early juncture.
