He didn't imagine making a commitment after just one official visit. But as it turns out, a trip to UCLA was all that four-star forward Chris Smith needed.

The 6-foot-8 forward at Huntington (W.V.) Prep who hails from Ft. Worth (Texas) was in attendance for UCLA's wild comeback win over Oregon on Thursday night and Saturday night confirmed to Rivals.com that he phoned Steve Alford and offered up a verbal commitment.

"I picked UCLA because I just felt like it was the best place for me overall," Smith told Rivals.com. "I think that I bring a plethora of things to the table. I can handle the ball, shoot, pass, and much more. Also, I just believe I am a great teammate and everybody there will love playing with me.

Originally expected to be a member of the class of 2018, Smith decided to reclassify to 2017 this winter and he's a prospect who yields big upside.

A very capable shooter to the three point line, Smith is a fluid and lanky athlete who is at best operating in space and transition. He has the size to play as a face up four, the skill to play out on the wing and the room to add muscle onto his frame to give him plenty of long term upside in Westwood.

A four-star prospect, Smith is the sixth member of UCLA's loaded 2017 recruiting class.

Smith joins a class that already has five-star wing Kris Wilkes, five-star point guard Jaylen Hands, four-star power forwards Jalen Hill and Cody Riley and three-star wing LiAngelo Ball.
