Four-star Florida guard taking time as stock takes off

Tre Mann, a four-star guard out of Florida, is starting to receive the ultimate compliment for a guard in today’s game. He’s being labeled “the next Steph Curry” because of his ability to score, pass and because of his lanky build at 6-foot-4.

This season playing somewhat of a combo guard role for his high school team, Mann is averaging 20.4 points, six rebounds and three assists per game as a junior. He’s collected a bunch of scholarship already, but says Tennessee, Dayton, Memphis, USC, Florida, UCF, and South Florida are the schools he talks to most regularly.

UCF had him on campus most recently and Florida has also had him on campus already.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

Mann talked about some of the schools recruiting him the hardest.

Florida: “I think it’s a nice program. They have a good system, a good team and a good coaching staff.”

UCF: “I like the coaching staff. They got real nice people, cool people, good coaches. They have a good playing system too.”

USC: “I haven’t really had a chance to watch them this year. Their coaches just ask me how I’m doing and tell me about how their season is going.”

Tennessee: “I think they are doing pretty well. They send me YouTube links to go watch some of their games because I don’t get to see a lot of games. The videos they send me look really good.”

RIVALS REACTION

If there is one conclusion to draw from the conversation with Mann, he’s in no rush to jump all the way into the recruiting process. He’s in the very early stages of doing his homework on all the schools involved with him, and also remains open to new schools coming into the picture. It’s definitely good news for UCF and Florida, the two schools closest to where he lives, to get him on campus early, but Mann also made it clear he’s not letting where a school is located factor into his decision.

Mann’s plan is to play out his final season in the Nike EYBL with Each 1 Teach 1 before moving forward with the recruiting process. He’s targeting a decision late in his senior year and will be a late signee.
