Four-star Emmanuel Akot discusses his final four

The process of selecting a college to attend can go slower for some, and for others, much quicker. When you know, you know, which is the exact mindset of Emmanuel Akot. A 6-foot-6 small forward by of Canada, the Wasatch Academy product sat down with Rivals.com and gave insight on his final list of Arizona, Oregon, Utah and Louisville and the timetable for his commitment.

Despite being ranked No. 28 in the 2018 Rivals150, the impressive junior may be one of the more mysterious members of the 2018 class. Hidden within the confines of Mt. Pleasant, Utah, Akot's recruitment really took off in Spain this past summer running with the Canadian under-17 team.

Now entering his upperclassmen years, Akot can be seen as a fluid athlete that is a decent shooter but is best pushing the pace off of the defensive glass and in making the appropriate pass within the open floor. He boasts some similarities with current Kansas freshman Josh Jackson; the upside might not be as elite, though the strengths and weaknesses are fairly comparable.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

Akot has quickly sifted through the recruiting process and has things narrowed down to a final four. Here are his thoughts on each.

Arizona: “I'm developing a good relationship with the coaching staff. Their style of play suits me well. They also get great players each year so I would be going against the top players in practice and getting better every day.”

Oregon: “They've been really good to Canadian players. They are becoming one of the top programs in the country and that would be great to be a part of. I think I can play well with the guys they have coming in.”

Louisville: “They have a great style of play. I like how they are up-tempo and get after it on defense. They are also in a great conference so they go up against the best competition. They also have great player development.”

Utah: “I know the coaching staff well. They plan to use me like Delon Wright and I think I can strive in that role. They've been really good these past few years and I would be able to help them keep pushing forward.”

WHAT'S NEXT?

While no dates have been set just yet, expect Akot to visit his four finalists in the coming months. There is no rush for a commitment but a college decision could be made before the summer rolls around.

RIVALS' REACTION

There might not be a ton of attention paid to the recruitment of Akot compared to some of his peers, but the talent is definitely in order. Utah has had the most traction at this point thanks to its close proximity to the smooth and talented small forward, though it would be premature to count out any of the remaining three in pursuit of the Wasatch Academy star.
