Coming out of the July recruiting period, Keyshawn Embery earned a four-star rating by Rivals.com and found himself ranked 106th nationally in the 2018 Rivals150. Since then, he’s done nothing but reinforce that he deserves to be considered among the best in his class.

He’s helped his Midwest City (Okla.) team get off to an 8-2 start this season by averaging 33 points, nine rebounds and four assists per game. Schools such as Kansas State, Oklahoma, Creighton, Nebraska, Arkansas and Oklahoma State have taken notice of his abilities. So far, he’s been on campus at Arkansas, Kansas State, Nebraska and Oklahoma State.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

Arkansas: “I liked their campus a lot. I liked the environment and how they support their student athletes over there.”

Oklahoma State: “They have a great coaching staff and I’ve had good communication with the players. I love the new coaches there. They just tell me to make sure my grades are right and keep working.”

Nebraska: “It’s really nice there. Everything is very new and the coaching staff is great. They do a good job getting involved with their kids.”

Kansas State: “It was nice there too. It was great like the other schools. Their coaches just tell me to keep working and make sure I take care of everything outside of basketball.”

Oklahoma: “I like their program and I love how they play. I liked the last group of guards that came through there with Buddy Hield.”

WHAT’S NEXT?

Embery says he hasn’t even thought about the recruiting process much since the start of his high school season. He doesn’t have any visits planned at the moment. After the high school season, he’ll be back with Oklahoma Run PWP on the Under Armour circuit. A decision likely won’t come until after next travel season.

RIVALS’ REACTION

Given that he’s not caught up in the recruiting process yet, it’s hard to have a great sense of where he’s leaning. It’s safe to say the schools that have been fortunate enough to have him on campus certainly have his full attention. It’s worth noting that all the schools mentioned with Embery are located relatively close to where he lives.
