Four-star Elijah Wood has been a highly regarded member of the 2020 class for a while now.

Lately, the 6-foot-5 wing has seen a bit of a surge with some traditional powers getting involved in his recruitment. Kansas and UCLA have started showing interest lately. He also mentioned Florida, Georgetown, Georgia, Ole Miss, Purdue, Virginia and Xavier as schools involved in his recruitment.

He took his first official visit to Long Beach State already and could take one to Tulane soon.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

Wood talked about his new interest from Kansas and UCLA along with other schools involved in his recruitment.

Florida: “I know they had Kasey Hill. He’s one of my favorite guards. I don’t know a ton about their history though. I’ve been talking to Coach Pinkins a little bit.”

Kansas: “They have been recruiting me for a little bit now. They just came to my school for the first time. If they came through and offered, I would really appreciate that. They seem to have pretty good interest. They have great knowledge of the game.”

UCLA: “I would love that offer too. I would try to be like Lonzo Ball or Jaylen Hands there. Those were some of my favorite guards.”

Virginia: “They came and watched me when I first transferred back here. I know they had Justin Anderson and all the local guys that went there. I like the way they play and the system they have.

Xavier: “Coach (Jonas) Hayes can talk to me about anything. He’s been showing a lot of love. I know they have Naji Marshall from around here and he’s tough.”

RIVALS' REACTION, WHAT'S NEXT?

Wood’s recruitment is very fluid at the moment. He’s been generating a lot of interest from schools all over the country, but his recruitment could change in an instant if a school like Kansas or UCLA comes into the picture. Kansas in particular really seems to have his full attention as he has a lot of respect for assistant coach Norm Roberts. Xavier is another school to watch here as the Musketeers have put in a lot of time with him and have had success getting players out of his area.
