Four-star Bingham commits to Michigan State

Having already put together a strong three-man 2018 recruiting class, Michigan State added to its cupboard of talent on Friday with the commitment of Marcus Bingham. A long, rangy and super talented forward, Bingham has the potential to evolve into a quality two-way producer in East Lansing.

Quickly evolving into a priority recruit for the best within the Midwest, Bingham spoke on what stood out to him about MSU’s sell. “They were just telling me that I played like a lot like the players that they have had in the past like Adreian Payne and Draymond Green, which really excited me,” he said.

Selecting Michigan State over Butler and Purdue, Bingham is a 6-foot-9 power forward that has grown over six inches since his freshman year. Much helped was needed in the MSU frontcourt with possible early departures of Miles Bridges and Jaren Jackson, along with the graduations of Gavin Schilling and Ben Carter. The four-star addresses that need.

A skinny but tough power forward that has the chance to play either forward position in college, Bingham has exceptional ball skills for this stage in his development. Making over 34-percent of his perimeter attempts this spring on the Nike circuit, while tossing in over eight points and four rebounds per contest, it is more about the future with him than with where he is today.

Michigan State joins Arkansas with having the most class of 2018 commitments. Bolstered by top-150 prospects Thomas Kithier and Foster Loyer, along with quickly improving wing Gabe Brown, the Spartans sit with a top-five class nationally heading into the July evaluation periods.
