Four stand out for SG Walton

RANKINGS: Class of 2014 - 2015 - 2016
Brownsburg (Ind.) shooting guard K.J. Walton has been a known commodity in the Midwest for quite some time now. At different times, he says he's been in contact with just about every school in the Big Ten along with a few others outside of the region.

For now though, he's mainly hearing from four schools.
"Minnesota, Xavier, Indiana and Michigan State are the main ones right now," Walton said. "Minnesota and Xavier have offered. I'm still open to everybody right now."
The only official visit in the works for Walton so far is a trip to Minnesota at some point in October. Richard Pitino and his staff have worked the four-star prospect hard.
"I definitely like Coach Pitino. He's good, he's young. I like their offense and how they like to get up and down the court. That's what I like to do. I think I would fit into their offense. It's in the Big Ten, and I want to play at the highest level, so that helps."
Xavier came in early and extended a scholarship offer to Walton, and that means a lot to him.
"They were actually my first offer. They are a big one. I'm really considering them a lot. Their coaching staff shows a lot of love. The relationships I have with the coaches are great. It's close to home and that's a plus."
Indiana has been involved in Walton's recruitment, but he says he's not exactly sure where he stands with them or how he would fit into their offense.
"It's my home state school, so obviously I like them a lot. They have been up and down in how they are recruiting me. I'm not really sure how I would fit in their offense. They have great tradition there."
Michigan State has yet to offer Walton, but the 100th ranked prospect in the 2015 Rivals150 admitted if the Spartans did come through with an offer, he would have to seriously consider accepting it.
"I really like Michigan State. That might be the one I like the most. I like Coach [Tom] Izzo. They win a lot there. I see what Gary Harris did there and I think I'm similar to him. I like Michigan State a lot. I like everything about them."
Walton says his current plan is to take some visits and see which coaches come through when the recruiting period starts before diving into the recruiting process any deeper.
"Right now, I'm just going to take my visits. I really couldn't say how it's going to play right now. We'll just see what happens."
