Four Sign With Georgia Tech

Georgia Tech head coach Paul Hewitt described his four-recruit class for the Fall of 2004 as solid. Hewitt and his assistants landed letter of intents from RaSean Dickey, Zam Frederick, Anthony Morrow, and Jeremis Smith.
Hewitt feels that Frederick, a 6-foot shooting guard from St. Matthews' Calhoun County, will help his team's offense in 2004-2005. "Zam has the ability to shoot the long range jumper and help us on the perimeter with his shooting," Hewitt said. "But he's more than a basketball player. He is also an excellent student."

While Frederick is expected to help ignite the Tech offense, Morrow, a 6-foot-6 small forward from Charlotte Latin School in N.C., was a surprise get by Hewitt and his staff. "It was good to get a player of that caliber out of North Carolina," Hewitt stated. "He is a tremendous shooter and has good size. We were lucky to get someone like him."
Dickey, a tough, inside 6-foot-9 forward from Bennettsville Marlboro County High School in South Carolina, probably has the best upside of the four recruits. "He does have great potential," Hewitt said. "He can finish well around the basket. And he has good footwork."
Smith, 6-foot-6 from Fort Worth Dunbar High School in Texas, is considered one of the better players on both ends of the court. "He is a great all around player," Hewitt said. "He can rebound, can show power inside and score. He had a great junior year."
Smith also produced a 25 point, 12-rebound effort against Kendrick Perkins last year. It seemed since that game Smith has gained more confidence. "I feel very happy about the four players we have signed," Hewitt said. "I think all of them can be impact players eventually at Georgia Tech."
