BRADENTON, Fla. – On the verge of blossoming into a priority recruit for a number of power conference programs, Jahmius Ramsey holds a handful of scholarship offers and further interest. As he makes his move to IMG Academy this fall for his junior campaign, the four-star guard says four programs have started to stand out.

A 6-foot-4 guard prospect in the 2019 class, Ramsey sports ideal physical tangibles and a competitive mentality that should only aid in winning battles against other prestigious prospects. Already slotted as a top-75 prospect within the Rivals150, Ramsey discussed the recent uptick in his recruitment. “Things are going well so far. I have a lot of interest. A couple of coaches are telling me that they are going to keep watching,” he said. “I have been hearing a lot from Texas A&M, Baylor, Arkansas and Virginia Tech. Those are probably the top four right now.”

IN HIS OWN WORDS

Texas A&M: “They are recruiting me really hard. They are just telling me that they need me over there to do a little bit of everything.

“I went there for a visit this summer; I need to get back down there to see their new facility.”

Baylor: “They are just very interested in me. I need to get back down there to see their new court. Their facilities are great. Their new court is supposed to be a bear.”

Arkansas: “They’re saying that I am up next. Keyshawn Embery, my teammate, is going there. He has been telling me that I would love it and they just tell you to play your game.”

Virginia Tech: “Buzz (Williams), he is different. My visit there, he probably did the most work with me. I can tell he wants to get me to the next level. He is a good dude. He sat me down with one of the conferences with his team; it was great. He really wants what is best for me.

“The campus is great, all the people down there are nice and it is just real quiet down there.”

WHAT'S  NEXT?

The Texas native has had a hard time getting to other colleges this fall, thanks to his move to Florida and enrollment in IMG Academy.

He has already visited Texas A&M, Baylor and Virginia Tech during the summer. He will play a national schedule this winter with the IMG national team, alongside other nationally ranked prospects including Keyshawn Embery, Josh Green, Noah Farrakhan, Darius Days, Silvio DeSousa and Chol Marial.

RIVALS' REACTION

Already rated as a quality four-star guard recruit, Ramsey’s identity comes in the form of his toughness and competitive will. He is a strong perimeter defender who can guard all three backcourt positions and is more than a solid athlete who can finish through bigger bodies at the rim.

While his recruitment is just building, expect for several of the in-state programs, including Texas A&M and Baylor, to remain heavily involved for Ramsey. Arkansas has an insider’s edge, thanks to his play alongside Hogs 2018 pledge Keyshawn Embery, while Virginia Tech - a program led by head coach Buzz Williams, who has had great success in the past in the state of Texas - could be a factor, too.
