Fortson ready to impress

2008 three-star prospect Courtney Fortson led his Montgomery (Al.) Jefferson Davis High School team to within one win of a state championship and won the state's Mr. Basketball award for his efforts. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound point guard will attend prep school next year and hopes to impress the college coaches on the travel circuit.
Originally thought to be a 2007 prospect, Fortson already has the attention of Alabama, Auburn, Kansas, Cincinnati, Texas A&M and Arkansas-Little Rock. Coaches from those schools and others will be in Little Rock, Ark., the weekend after the Final Four to watch Fortson in action with his Southeast Elite travel squad.

"I'm wide open right now," said Fortson. "No one has offered me yet. I think they are waiting to see me play this spring. I just need to play my game, and I know good things will happen."
Fortson certainly made a lot of good things happen this past high school season as he averaged 25 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals per game.
Fortson, who is the No. 133 ranked player in the Rivals150 for the class of 2008, has not yet decided on a prep school for next year, but he is leaning towards Patterson Prep.
Courtney Fortson scouting report:
Undersized but a dynamic player, Fortson is an excellent competitor who defends and rebounds. Offensively, the lefty is fast with the ball and can finish at the rim. He shoots it well off the dribble, but does have room to improve the consistency of his outside jumper.
