Forbes Likes The ACC

Gary Forbes, a 6-6, 190-pound swingman from Benjamin Banneker Academy in Brooklyn, New York, told us from the Five Star camp this week that he will likely visit at least three schools, possibly more before making a decision. "I am going to visit Virginia on September 13th," Forbes said. "Then I am going to visit Georgia Tech on September 21st."
Forbes told us he is also very interested in visiting North Carolina State. "Julius Hodge is there and he is a New Yorker," Forbes said. "Coach Sendek has done a great job there. I like their style of play. They run and press. That's my game."

On Virginia: "It's close to home. They have great coaches. I like the style of play too. They run and press. They have a great education available as well."
On Georgia Tech: "They were one of the first schools that recruited me hard. They have recruited me hard since then. I like coach Hewitt and the style of play too."
Forbes won't rule out Connecticut either. "They are the best Big East. They have a winning tradition and chance to play for the National Championship."
But Forbes made it clear he likes the ACC the most. "It's a great conference," Forbes said. "But the schools are my list are so evenly matched that what will decide it is how the social and educational atmosphere is on each campus."
Forbes, who also plays with the Riverside Church program during the summer, told us he is also interested in Cincinnati and Mississippi State. Notre Dame has dropped out.
"Mississippi State is in there because they got Gary Ervin (fellow Riverside teammate," Forbes said. "Gary is a great guard. And Cincinnati has a great program. Coach Huggins is one of the best in the country."
