power/combination forward
Deering H.S. in Portland, Maine
Recruiting: Has a top three of Maryland, Missouri and UConn.
Caner-Medley said that those three schools have offered him scholarships this summer. In addition to his top three, Caner-Medley is actively considering Virginia, Stanford and Boston College. He's also received phone calls from Kentucky and Tennessee, and he said he might consider those programs as well as North Carolina and Florida, although those programs are not currently on his list of six schools.
ABCD Stats: 5.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 34.8 percent from the floor
Performance: Nik Caner-Medley came into the camp with a big reputation. But he seemed to struggle offensively with his shot and being able to finish close to the basket. There is a world of talent here in this recruit. And college coaches swear by him and the schools above would take him in a second.
Nik works hard all the time and this is a positive aspect. The rest between tournaments and camps will probably do him some good. Though selected for the All Star game last night, Medley sat it out due to an injury. Medley is expected next to participate at the Las Vegas event in late July. We will keep you posted on his progress.
What Nik Caner-Medley needs to do: He needs to show college coaches he can finish in the pain. Remember, the camp atmosphere is not usually the best one for a forward to shine since the guards always take the most shots. It's likely we will see a different Nik Caner-Medley in Las Vegas.
Following the adidas ABCD Camp in New Jersey, the New England native will head West to attend the adidas Big Time Tournament in Las Vegas and the Double Pump Best of the Summer Tournament in Los Angeles with the Pump N Run All-Stars.
Caner-Medley does not have a timetable on a decision, but the Insiders Report will keep you posted on his progress throughout the summer.
