Forward/Guard
ABCD Stats: 16.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.1 steals, 0.9 blocks
ABCD Performance: Cooke really only had one bad game but it was his biggest challenge -- against Lebron James. Cooke scored nine points while James nailed Lenny for 24 points. Cooke showed he is perhaps the best player in this year's class.
Cooke handles the ball like a yo-yo and is maybe the best passer in the class of 2002. Cooke is energetic and always works hard on the offensive end. When his game is rolling, Cooke can drop down the jumper from anywhere on the court. He can beat you with the dribble too.
A problem for Cooke overdribbles at times. He can tantilize you with crossovers, between the legs and behind the back dribbles. However, when Cooke puts this show in motion, his teammates sometimes stand around and watch. It's pretty to watch and entertaining. However, it's energy wasted.
What Cooke needs to do: Lenny Cooke has an incredible deal of talent. It's just structuring that talent to fit within a college basketball program. He needs to rotate the ball more and put the 30-second dribble away sometimes.
Cooke appears willing to work on his academics so he can attend college. We hope he succeeds. As far as the basketball situation, Cooke's game is as good as anyone's we have seen.
If Cooke is to attend college, it's likely going to be either St. John's, North Carolina, or Seton Hall.
