Floyd a Player to Watch in 2003

DENTON, Tex. -- Stephen Floyd, a quick and energetic 6-3, 170 pound combo/shooting guard from Elkins H.S. in Houston, Tex., was one of the better prospects on display on Friday at the Great American Shootout.
Floyd, who just won camp MVP honors at the Rick Bolus High Potential Blue Chip Camp in Kentucky, played here with the Houston Superstars Elite program.

While he is clearly not a point guard in the purest sense, Floyd is a very active player who looks to score in a variety of ways. Even though his three point shot wasn't falling on Friday afternoon, Floyd can get to the basket with the best of them.
He told the Insiders Report/Rivalshoops.com that he has been offered scholarships thus far by TCU, Tulane, Texas-Arlington and Louisiana Tech. He also has interest from Wisconsin, Oklahoma, UMass, Colorado State and UNLV.
Floyd averaged 17.5 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals per game this past season at Elkins. He said he has a 2.7 GPA but won't take the SAT for the first time until October.
After the Great American Shootout, Floyd will travel to the adidas Big Time Tournament in Las Vegas and the Slam N Jam Elite 8 Tournament in Berkeley, Calif., with the Superstars Elite squad.
