Florida ties pull in VCU commitment

After dipping into the junior college ranks for his first 2007 commitment, Coach Anthony Grant used his Florida connections to land Myk Brown's commitment to VCU.
After a weekend visit to Virginia Commonwealth, Brown, a 6-foot-4, 210-pound small forward from P.K. Young DRS in Gainsville, Fla., committed to play for the former Florida assistant coach.

"Coach Grant's ties with the Gainseville area where he coached at the University of Florida and where Myk attended camp the last five years sealed the deal for VCU," said PK Young DRS assistant coach Carlos Villalobos.
With his commitment to VCU, Brown cancelled scheduled visits to Colorado State and UMass.
Coach Villalobos also noted that Brown turned down offers from East Carolina, SMU, Utah, Air Force, Georgia Southern, Winthrop, Furman, Jacksonville, Florida Atlantic and High Point.
Brown was also receiving interest from Wake Forest, Miami, Xavier, George Washington and Nebraska.
