Just a month ago, senior big man Quincy Ballard had yet to receive a scholarship offer. On Saturday, he gave a verbal commitment to Leonard Hamilton and Florida State after seeing his recruitment hit overdrive.

An offer from UNC Willmington started things off in Mid March and by the time Ballard committed on Saturday other high major programs like Cincinnati, Maryland, N.C. State and Syracuse had offered the 6-foot-11, 245 pounder at Winston-Salem (N.C.) Quality Education Academy.

A native of New York, Ballard is big, strong and doesn't mind getting physical. At Florida State, Hamilton has loved to have many big bodies at his disposal and Ballard will certainly fit the bill in that regard.

His offense is still a work in progress but Ballard will protect the rim, does a solid job of controlling the paint and clearing the glass and he runs the floor hard. He'll need development, to be sure, but has raw tools that the Seminoles staff should be able to work with.

The third member of FSU's 2020 recruiting class, Ballard joins five-star forward Scottie Barnes and one of the top junior college players in the country, four-star wing Sardaar Calhoun. All together, the class now ranks No. 14 overall in the 2020 team recruiting rankings.
