Florida shooter has options

Last weekend was arguably one of the best college basketball weekends ever. One of the reasons why was because of the huge made jump shots made. Each game was filled with big-time buckets from big-time shooters. Shooters are also good to have. That's why Jake Worley, a 6-foot-5, 195-pound shooting guard from North Broward Prep (Fla.) is hearing from a variety of programs.
"Worley can flat out flick it," one college assistant coach said.

Flick it translates as "he's a big-time shooter" or "automatic from deep." All of those work for Worley. The Ohio native has earned his rep in the Sunshine State at IMG and now at North Broward Prep as a dead-eye shooter. And that is what made last weekend's college hoops so intriguing. And that's why college recruiters are looking for the next batch of game changers.
Worley is amongst the class of 2006 top shooters in the Southeast. He believes he could be one of the players that helps a team advance in the big dance.
"I think I could definitely help a lot just because I feel like I can spread the defense out and help the team," Worley said. "I think all teams need shooters.
"I'm a big guard that can dribble without any problems. I'm also a really good shooter and a good scorer. I feel like I know the game."
Worley has already unofficially visited Dayton, Indiana and Stanford. Each school had it's positives he said.
"I like Indiana. I like the atmosphere up there," Worley explained. "They have such a great tradition there. With Stanford, obviously it's a good academic school and that's really important to me. Dayton is close to my home in Ohio. I really want to go to school in the Midwest area. That would be great."
St. Bonaventure and Wright State are both trying to use the local angle. The two programs called him on Monday. Kent State is trying the same angle, too. Notre Dame, Miami, Cornell, George Mason, Colgate, Florida State, Cincinnati and DePaul have all sent mail this season, Worley said. None have offered.
Worley will suit up with the Tallahassee Wildcats on the AAU circuit this spring and summer, making a stop at the Next Level tournament in Dallas, Texas in the evaluation period.
Worley led North Broward Prep (25-4) in scoring at 14 points per game. He also added 6.5 rebounds, five assists and three steals a contest.
