Florida Scoring Leader Drawing Big Time Looks

2005 prospect Denis Clemente from Calusas Prep School in Miami is poised to finish the season as the leading per game scorer in the state of Florida. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound point guard is being recruited by a long list of schools, and one SEC schools is set to watch him play Thursday night.
“Arkansas is coming in Thursday to watch Denis play,” said his AAU coach Art Alvarez of the Miami Tropics. “LSU, Mississippi State, Miami, Florida State, Florida, Temple, and Louisville are also recruiting him.”

Clemente is averaging 34 points per game and 7 assists per game. He has had 12 games with 40 points or more. One of those games was against Arlington Country Day in Jacksonville, who is loaded with at least three high major prospects, where Clemente went for 45 points.
Coach Alvarez sees Clemente as a hidden gym ready to explode on the national scene.
“He is a fast, quick Allen Iverson type,” said Coach Alvarez. “He can both drive and shoot the ball. He is one of the quickest kids I have seen from end to end with the ball.”
“He has been invited to the Nike Camp, and he is going to be the steal of the camp.”
