Florida scoring guard chooses a school

Senior combo guard Jeff Brown has had to fight against injuries and ineligibility from transferring over the past year, but the 6-foot-3, 185-pound combo guard from Hernando (Fla.) High School has prevailed and committed to the College of Charleston. His AAU coach Kenny Gillion of Team Breakdown is convinced that the College of Charleston has snagged a big time steal.
"Jeff committed to the College of Charleston last night," said Coach Gillion. "Schools like Florida State, Mississippi and Arkansas were on him in April, but he hurt his shoulder in our last game at the Kingwood Classic and had to miss the rest of the summer.

"Then he couldn't start playing this year until January because he transferred to Hernando from Gainsville High School. Charleston stuck with him and offered him after watching him play after his first game in January."
Brown, who averaged 22 points per game this season, is an explosive athlete who specializes at getting to the rim.
"He's a big time athlete and can get to the rim," said Gillion. "He is also a pretty good three-point shooter. He hit around two to three per game this year."
Always a very good scorer, Brown put up a career high 27 points per game as a sophomore in high school.
