While much of the recruiting world was dozing off to sleep Monday night, Mike White and his staff at Florida were out landing an important four-star commitment.

During an in home visit, 2017's No. 82 player Deaundre Ballard of Atlanta (Ga.) Southwest Atlanta Christian made the call for the Gators.

RIVALS' REACTION...

The Gators are looking to get more athletic under the direction of White and Ballard certainly helps out there.

At 6-foot-6 with long arms, he's a high energy, quick and athletic wing who loves to attack. He's a little bit wild at times and has to get more consistent with his jumper but he's going to play hard and should be able to defend from baseline to baseline and be a good fit for the type of up and down basketball that the Gators want to play.

Ballard looks like a legit SEC kid all the way and should be able to develop into a wing that can be relied upon to get to the rim, hit the glass and defend at a high level. Teaming him with combo guard Shai Alexander who ranks No. 60 in 2017 gives the Gators a terrific start to the class.

WHAT'S NEXT?

The Gators hope that they are not done in the state of Georgia. Top 60 combo guard Collin Sexton -- who is still on the rise in the national rankings -- is a huge target for the Gators and they've got themselves positioned to make a nice run at him.

Some size will also be needed and a shot blocker like five-star rejector Ikey Obiagu is high on their priority list.
