Mike O'Donnell, a 5-11, 150 pound point guard from Largo HS in Clearwater, FL, was given the word by head coach Billy Donovan that he has an offer if he decides to prep a year. O'Donnell's family confirmed this with us this afternoon.
According to O'Donnell's family, Donovan promised Michael a scholarship if he took another year for prep. It's likely that O'Donnell will play at either Fork Union or Hargrave Military Academy in Virginia.
RivalsHoops.com first noticed O'Donnell at the NBA Players Association High School Camp last June. O'Donnell is a complete player who displayed the vision to find the open teammate and also showed he can score.
Florida State, Colorado State, Stanford, Butler, Holy Cross and William & Mary were also considered. Mike averaged 18 points and eight assists this past season.
O'Donnell is a good student with a 3.6 GPA. "I scored 940 on the SAT but I'll be re-taking it," he said.
