Florida big man picks Duke

Ever since he took an unofficial visit to Durham, N.C., in March, Duke has been the favorite to land senior center Antonio Vrankovic. All he needed was a scholarship offer.
On Wednesday night, it all came together and the 2015 NCAA champion landed its third player from the class of 2015.
A strong 6-foot-10 center from Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) Pine Crest, Vrankovic says he loved his visit and is excited for the opportunity.
"The unofficial visit opened my eyes to a lot of things," Vrankovic told Rivals.com. "Seeing those things first-hand really opened my eyes. I just had to talk to the dean of admission and get the academics all straight and then I made my decision.
"It's a lifetime opportunity, both academically and athletically. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I need to make the best of it. Coach K (Mike Krzyzewski) is one of the greatest coaches ever and that I can learn from him means a lot."
A three-star prospect who hasn't been seen that much nationally, Vrankovic has skill to go along with his sturdy 240-pound frame.
"I'm a big body and I'm physical," said Vrankovic, whose father, Stojko, played five seasons in the NBA. "I can bump around with the other big guys. I can score from the low post and I have a decent mid-range jumper that can only get better. Most of all I'm a good passer and when double teams come I can make the right pass and help my teammates be better.
"I can keep getting in better shape and getting stronger, and take care of the physical part of it."
Currently unranked in the 2015 Rivals150, Vrankovic joins a class that includes five-star center Chase Jeter and five-star shooting guard Luke Kennard. He says that he never worried about where he would land.
"I think I've been under the radar for a while," Vrankovic said. "I knew the only thing I could do about it is play my tail off and improve on my weaknesses. I just kept believing in myself and had faith in God and knew good things would come my way.
"Becoming part of a dynasty like the Duke basketball program is a dream come true. The fact that they won the national championship this year makes it so much better and puts the cherry on top of it all."
Rivals.com contributing analyst Russ Wood is based in Florida and provided this scouting report on the newest Blue Devil.
"Antonio Vrankovic is a skilled post player who is adept at sealing his man and posting up for his hook shot. His high basketball IQ helps him at both ends of the floor. He catches well and makes good decisions once he has the ball in his hands. He's a good passer out of the post which will keep Duke's three-point shooters engaged. Defensively he is more of a guy who alters shots than a true shot-blocker. Since dropping weight he gets up and down the court better."
