Florida Atlantic adds another

Rex Walters and the Florida Atlantic Owls are on a roll. After receiving a commitment from Roderick Green earlier in the week, FAU recently secured a commitment from Carderro Nwoji, the 6-foot-0, 175-pound point guard from Redlands Community College. It just so happens that Green and Nwoji are teammates at Redlands, so they're looking forward to playing with each other in the future.
"Oh yes, I am headed to Florida Atlantic. I made the decision after I retuned home from my official visit on Sunday night," said Nwoji. "I took my official visit to Florida Atlantic with Roderick Green and we had a great time. Coach Rex Walters and I talked about academics and what it means to be a student-athlete.

"I know how important it is to graduate from college, so that is very important to me," he added. "We took a tour of the campus and I was able to get a good look at the entire school. It was definitely a great trip."
It didn't take long for Nwoji to make a final decision about his future. The talented point guard gave the nod to Florida Atlantic for a variety of reasons, but the relationship he has with Coach Walters sealed the deal early on in the process.
"Coach Walters knows what it means to win. He is a winner and I like that about him," he said. "Coach Walters first started to recruit me when he was at Valparaiso, so he and I know a lot about each other. He is a proven winner and has a great mindset. I have one more year at Redlands and then I am headed to Florida Atlantic.
"I had a pretty good year as a freshman," he added. "We were 26-5 as a team and I averaged six points per game. I don't know how many assists I averaged, but I had a good year."
