Head coach Mike White and Florida have been searching for an additional perimeter playmaker from the class of 2017 all fall and through the early winter.

They got their man on Thursday night when three-star combo guard Michael Okauru committed to the Gators.

While Okauru was on his official visit in Gainesville, Wolfeboro (N.H.) Brewster Academy head coach Jason Smith confirmed to Rivals.com that his player wouldn't need to take any further visits.

A scorer by trade, Okauru has comfortable range to the three-point line and is clever at creating space off the dribble. He does a good job of penetrating the defense and has added solid muscle to his long and lean frame that allows him to shed defenders and make trips to the free throw line.

With his athleticism, Okauru can get hot in a hurry but he avoids the urge to jack bad shots and does a nice job of creating for teammates as well. His coach thinks he has a huge ceiling for improvement in the SEC.

"Michael is a long and athletic lead guard who has a very high ceiling," Smith told Rivals.com. "He possesses SEC level athleticism and potential to be a great defender. He has great speed and quickness."

Okauru is the fourth member of the class of 2017 to select the Gators. He joins three-star big man Isaiah Stokes who has been making a strong push for the Rivals150, Rivals150 wing DeAundre Ballard and combo forward Chase Johnson.
