Five-star sophomore to UNC

Whether you want to call it a late Christmas present or an early start to a New Year's Eve party, Roy Williams and North Carolina got huge news on Tuesday when five-star sophomore point guard Jalek Felton committed.

A five-star prospect who ranks No. 6 overall in the class of 2017, Felton is a 6-foot-3 point guard from Mullins (S.C.) High with close ties to the program.
Felton's uncle and mentor Raymond Felton is a North Carolina legend and a close figure in his nephew's life. Because of that, Jalek had always been considered a lean to the Heels but his Tuesday commitment was still a bit of a surprise in that he had been saying of late that he was in no rush to make any kind of college decision.
The early decision is certainly one that Williams and his staff accepted gladly.
A big time athlete with tremendous size for the point guard position, Felton has the tools to develop into a special player himself during his time in Chapel Hill.
Not only is Felton bouncy, he is fast and elusive with the ball in his hands and does a tremendous job of changing speeds. One of the best passers in high school regardless of class, Felton also has tremendous vision and is capable of making spectacular passes with regularity. A good shooter from deep, Felton can light up the scoreboard in bunches because he's nearly impossible to keep from the rim and his jumper has to be respected.
North Carolina's first commitment from the class of 2017, Felton is projecting as a player capable of showing up on campus and making an immediate impact.
