Five-star SG Monk sets visits

Elite shooting guard prospect Malik Monk has cut down his list of suitors to a final six and lined up some official visits.
A 6-foot-4 senior at Bentonville (Ark.) High, who is a top 10 player in the class of 2016, Monk has cut his list of schools down to Arkansas, Florida State, Kansas, Kentucky, North Carolina and Oregon.

Per Monk's older brother, Marcus, official visits have been set for Oregon (Sept. 18), Kansas (Oct. 9), Kentucky (Oct. 16) and Arkansas (Oct. 24). Dates are also being worked out so that North Carolina and Florida State will receive visits as well.
Arguably the most explosive scorer in the class of 2016, Monk has an electric first step, deep range on his shot and the ability to elevate and score in traffic. In many respects, he plays a game similar to that of a young Steve Francis.
While he is prepared to take visits, the behind-the-scenes feel is that everybody is playing catch up with Arkansas and Kentucky. While the Razorbacks and Wildcats are most likely ahead of the pack, that Monk is taking visits to additional programs means there is a chance that he could be swayed or is perhaps a little more open than most believe.
Per Monk and his brother, this will be the only update made to his list until he makes his college decision.
