Five-star Quickley discusses top suitors

Five-star point guard Immanuel Quickley has become a popular man. As one of the top point guards in the 2018 class, he has college coaches all over the country lining up to recruit him to their programs. In the past couple months, the Bel Air (Md.) John Carroll point guard has taken trips to Georgetown, Kansas, Kentucky and Maryland with one more trip coming up this weekend to Virginia.

IN HIS OWN WORDS: Quickley shared what he likes about the schools involved in his recruitment.

Georgetown: “Georgetown was nice. I didn’t know how good they are academically before I visited. That was something that really impressed me.”

Kansas: “That was really fun. The fans were really, really good. I enjoyed their student section. It was a lot of fun.”

Kentucky: “I liked it there. Midnight Madness was really fun. I just like the environment they have there. They have a pretty good point guard history too.”

Maryland: “My visit with Coach (Mark) Turgeon was fun too. We had lunch and got to see more of the school than what I’ve seen before. I saw all their facilities and everything else there.”

Virginia: “It’s a really good program. Coach [Tony] Bennett is a really nice guy. He came to my school earlier this month, so I’m just looking to build on my relationship with him and Virginia.”

WHAT’S NEXT?: Look for Quickley to continue doing his homework on the schools recruiting him by getting out for more visits. Up next is a trip to Charlottesville this weekend to spend some time with Bennett and learn more about Virginia. Don’t expect Quickley to make a decision any time too soon.

RIVALS’ REACTION: Judging off his reaction to the visits, it seems like all the schools involved made an impression on him in a different way. He saw Midnight Madness events at Kansas and Kentucky and went for day trips to Maryland and Georgetown. He says he doesn’t feel any pressure to stay local and is just looking to make the best decision for his future that will help him achieve his dream of playing in the NBA.
