Five-star point guard Trevon Duval thinking visits

HYATTSVILLE, Md. -- The nation's top ranked point guard in the class of 2017, Trevon Duval, put on a show at the National Hoops Festival on Saturday. The No. 3 ranked senior in the country had an electrifying 19 point, nine assist, two rebound and two steal effort in Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy's 86-69 win over Columbia (S.C.) Gray Collegiate.

The 6-foot-2 floor general talked about IMG, his recruitment and was pretty blunt when asked if he was giving any consideration to skipping college and playing overseas for a year to prepare for the NBA Draft over attending Arizona, Baylor, Duke, Kansas or Seton Hall.

"Definitely college," said Duval about his plans for next season.

But first, this year is Duval's first at IMG and he's loving the talent he plays with. Florida committed big man Isaiah Stokes, 2018 four-star forward Emmitt Williams, 2018 five-star big man Silvio De Sousa and Rivals150 junior wing Keyontae Johnson are just a few of the stars he plays with and they are an unselfish bunch.

"I love it, I love playing with these guys," Duval told Rivals.com. They are all pretty skilled and pretty talented so to see us coming together and playing as a team is real fun.

"I feel like I need to get everybody touches but we share the ball so well I feel as if it happens naturally."

"I think I've been improving on my leadership, finding guys and just improving my all around game."

While Duval is certainly a playmaker, it's the explosive ability he has off the dribble that has his final five excited over the prospects of possibly having him play college ball in their uniform.

Duval discussed each of his finalists starting with Kansas where he took an unofficial visit for their Late Night in the Phog festivities.

"Kansas was fun," said Duval. "That was my first time out there. They treated me well and I loved the environment that they play in so it was a pretty good visit."

The most recent offer for Duval came from Duke and the Blue Devils have gotten active with him over the last month or so.

"They need a point guard. So that's what they are really pitching to me is that I can come in and run their show and be a point guard."

Duval also spoke about his other finalists.

"Arizona, they get up and down and are a Pac 12 school that fits my style of play. I'm really close with the coaches," said Duval. "Baylor, they are a top 10 team and are really good this year. Their coach lets their guys go so that's what I really like about them.

"Seton Hall was my first offer. I'm pretty close with the guys on the team and the coaches and they also run a lot of pick and roll which is something that I like to do."

Duval says that he will finalize the dates of his visits in the coming weeks, that he plans to take each of his visits and he has no desire to add or remove schools at this point.

"That's my final five," said Duval. "I'm taking visits in 2017, I'm taking all of them. They are set but I don't know the dates."
