True to his word, the five-star point guard from Dallas (Texas) Prime Prep cut his list in half on Monday.
Mudiay, the No. 3-ranked player in the class of 2014, and his family confirmed that the 6-foot-4 point guard has cut things down to a final five of Baylor, Kansas, Kentucky, Oklahoma State and SMU.
"The main thing is that those are the schools and coaches that he's been able to build a relationship with," Mudiay's older brother, Stephane, told Rivals.com. "He feels like all five of those coaches can push him to be the best he can be, and he likes all five programs."
Mudiay has set an official visit only to Kentucky for its Big Blue Madness festivities the weekend of Oct. 18. However, official visits will be set for his other four finalists soon.
Mudiay is in Los Angeles, finishing his participation in the Adidas Nations program. Once he returns to Dallas, he and his family will go over the dates that have been given to him for potential visits and put together a final plan.
