Five-star Little sets five official visit dates for fall
Nassir Little recently jumped to five-star status on Rivals.com after having a dominant July playing with 1 Family on the adidas circuit. He also became one of the more popular recruits in the country with high-major coaches following him around every time he stepped on the court.
A couple weeks ago, he trimmed a long list of schools in pursuit of him to five. Arizona, Duke, Georgia Tech, Miami and North Carolina remain in the mix, and he’s now set official visits to each school. Little broke down what stands out most about the programs still under consideration.
Georgia Tech (Visit: Aug. 26): “I like their personalities as coaches. I’ve been in touch with them for a long time. I’ve always had a really good relationship with them. It’s relatively close to home. I just like the feel there.”
North Carolina (Sept. 8): “It’s just been one of those schools I always watched growing up. My dad’s a Carolina fan. They just won the national championship. I had them winning that before the season. They have just always been a school I like to watch.”
Miami (Sept. 15): “I feel like I have a great opportunity to play early there. I connect really well with Coach [Jim] Larranaga. I really like the campus. The school is smaller like my school and that would help me focus.”
Arizona (Oct. 27): “For a program with that prestige that has been as dominant as they have to show that much attention really says a lot to me. I love the comparison of me to Stanley Johnson because he was a one-and-done, top 10 pick. He’s done that with my position multiple times, so that’s something really stood out to me.”
Duke (Nov. 10): “Coach K is another one of those legendary coaches. They have a great history. My favorite player from last year was Jayson Tatum and he went there, and a few years ago Justice Winslow was my favorite player on their championship team. They’ve put a lot of players in the League recently, especially at my position, so that’s something I look into.”
Little mentioned during July that he planned on waiting until after his high school season to make his final decision, but he’s taking all five official visits in time to sign early if he chooses.
“That’s still the plan,” Little said when asked if he still wants to sign late. “There is a chance I do a little bit earlier, but I’m not really sure. I decided to take my visits earlier because the way my school is set up, I didn’t want to miss stuff later in the year, and the possibility of playing in the McDonald’s All-American and the Jordan Brand Classic. I wanted to take my visits in the first semester.”
Little also added that all five schools are even as he begins his first official visit this weekend.
