Just when I think we've seen about everything there is to see from the Big Baller Brand, they throw a curveball at me.

On the same day that his family's reality show debuts on Facebook, five-star junior point guard LaMelo Ball is making news of his own.

Thursday, his family's Big Baller Brand announced that the UCLA committed point guard now has his own signature shoe, the Melo Ball 1.

According to the Big Baller Brand website, the shoe will retail for $395. As far as we know at Rivals.com, LaMelo -- who was also given a Lamborghini for his 16th birthday -- is the first high school player to be given his own signature shoe.

Love them or hate them, Ball and his family have continued to find ways to stay in the news and whether anybody wants to admit it or not, giving a signature shoe to a high school player is a big deal.

What this means going forward will be interesting to watch. In particular, I'm curious to see what, if anything, the NCAA is going to have to say about the situation. Could it impact LaMelo's eligibility when he arrives at UCLA in 2019? If it does, will the Ball family care or will it just be another marketing opportunity for them?

There seems to be no middle ground when it comes to discussing anything Ball related. People seem to be either fully with them or fully against them. I'll say this, they continue to push the envelope and I'm interested to see how this latest move plays out.
