Five-star junior being recruited at elite level

Jeremiah Tilmon

One of the hottest names in the class of 2017 is five-star center Jeremiah Tilmon of La Porte (Ind.) La Lumiere.

Standing 6-foot-10 with a sturdy build, Tilmon has had a strong junior season at La Lumiere after transferring there from East St. Louis (Ill.) High. Ranked No. 19 overall, Tilmon has been good on the glass, anchored the defense and showed improved touch and feel for scoring in the low post.

Tilmon's most recent scholarship offer came from Michigan State during a weekend visit. The Spartans join Indiana, Kansas, Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, North Carolina and Texas as teams that have offered scholarships.

IN THE WORDS OF HIS COACH

La Lumiere head coach Shane Heirman discussed Tilmon's growth as a player.

"He is incredibly coachable. He has a strong work ethic and desire to get better each day. Jeremiah has worked on his body a lot which has helped his mobility."

"He's put in a lot of work facing up from 15 feet and in and has developed a great repertoire of moves and counter moves from there. His ceiling is still very high.

WHAT'S NEXT?

Tilmon isn't in any rush to cut down his list. Look for him to finish out his junior season at La Lumiere and then see who else shows interest when he hits the Nike EYBL with the St. Louis Eagles in the month of April.

RIVALS REACTION

Early in Tilmon's recruitment, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky and Missouri would pop up a lot. Many more have joined in and Tilmon's offer list is looking like you would expect an elite prospect's list to look like.

For now, Tilmon is wide open to the process and which programs prioritize him during April's live weekends could go a lot towards telling who the real competitors are.
