Five-star Jahvon Quinerly decommits from Arizona

Jahvon Quinerly, a five-star 2018 guard, reopened his college recruitment on Thursday evening, Committing to Arizona in August, Quinerly decided to back away from his initial pledge to the Pac 12 program due to the FBI investigation pertaining to it.

A skilled, cerebral and talented lead guard that has become known for his developed skillset, Quinerly was heavily recruited by Villanova, Kansas, UCLA and Virginia before committing to Arizona in August. Recruited by Book Richardson to Arizona, the commitment of Quinerly was on unstable ground upon the arrest of the Wildcats’ assistant during the FBI bust that saw three other college assistants face a similar fate.

Running with the Sports U program on the Under Armour circuit this summer, Quinerly averaged over 14 points, four assist and three rebounds. He made over 43-percent of his 3-point tries and is one of the best passers and playmakers in his 2018 graduating class.

Less than a month until the early signing period, a handful of upper echelon college programs are expected to re-enter the picture for Quinerly. A signing is not expected next month, though Quinerly will likely become one of the more prioritized and recruited prospects this winter.

Arizona remains steady with a top-25 recruiting class as they boast the commitments of four-star guard Brandon Williams and top-25 forward Shareef O'Neal, each of whom will be on campus this weekend.
