Cole Anthony, the son of NBA guard Greg Anthony and the top point guard prospect in the 2019 class, has Maryland, St. John’s and Georgetown interested and more major offers should arise in the coming years. Running the loaded Archbishop Molloy program this winter at the lead guard spot, the five-star sophomore has bettered his jumper game while adding further to his impressive recruiting profile.

The Molloy standout has USA Basketball pedigree already in tow along with a bevy of upside to him. An explosive floor general who is at his best when he attacks the basket, Anthony has bolstered his game with a more consistent jumper.

A ballplayer with a mature playing style, Anthony can take over any given game with his shot making skills in the half-court and his playmaking acumen.

“I am just trying to win every single game and do whatever it takes to do just that,” said Anthony, who is ranked No. 7 in the class of 2019.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

His affiliation with the St. John’s basketball program dates back to his father’s friendship with the Red Storm’s head coach Chris Mullin. Maryland has also made inroads with the five-star talent.

“I have made it out to a Maryland game, but that is about it right now,” Anthony said. “It was a crazy atmosphere. It wasn’t as packed of a game that it usually is but they were playing a low division-1 team. I could tell just how big the gym is that when it gets packed, it gets crazy.”

The recruitment of Anthony is still in its infancy as more and more programs are beginning to become accustomed to the athletic and talented sophomore. A member of the PSA Cardinals program that ran with the 17-under squad last summer as a freshman, Anthony will again compete on the highest level of play during the upcoming travel season.

RIVALS REACTION

The Molloy guard has all of the physical tangibles and the talent reservoirs to pull from that will continue to make him one of the more sought-after players in 2019. He has grown further into the lead guard spot this winter and with more time spent in mastering his ball skills, Anthony looks here to stay as a five-star prospect and an elite guard recruit out of the sophomore ranks.
