CERRITOS, Calif. – As the top center prospect in the 2018 class, Moses Brown’s potential and long-term value is as good as one can find. The mobile, 7-foot-plus prospect has no shortage of college suitors as he enters his final summer of travel basketball.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

As Brown has steadily improved, his recruitment has evolved into a blue-blood affair.

“Kentucky, Maryland, UConn, St. John’s, Florida, Miami, and Louisville; just about everybody,” Brown said of the schools involved in his recruitment.

He gave his feelings on some of those in touch.

Kentucky: “They just want me to become a pro and to set goals for myself to be the best Moses that I can possibly be.”

Maryland: “Same message that they have always been preaching to me, which is that they love me and that they think that I am the best big in my class; they have made me a priority.”

St. John’s: “They are the hometown team. They are making me a priority, seeing that I am from Queens, which is where St. John’s is. They got Sid Wilson and they want me to stay home.”

Duke: “I talked to Coach K once but I talk to Nolan Smith and Jeff Capel. They have been texting me a lot during the basketball season.

“They got a lot of pros, they win championships and they develop. That is definitely something that I am looking for in a program.”

Louisville: “They are making me a priority and they think that I am the No. 1 center in my class, which I do agree, but I am working hard.”

WHAT'S NEXT

Brown will finish out his final summer on the Under Armour circuit with the New Heights 17-under unit. By the time August rolls around, he hopes to take the first stab at his college recruitment.

“When the live periods are over, I will think about cutting my school list down before the high school season starts,” he said.

A fall commitment remains up in the air, as things could drag into the winter months.

RIVALS' REACTION

Brown, who has recently grown and has done a commendable job of rounding out his interior skill set, has cemented his standing as one of the top big men in high school ball. It is anyone’s guess as to where he might play his likely one year of college basketball, but if St. John's and Maryland may be two dark horses in the mix, outside of the bluebloods. Expect both to remain involved until the very end with the five-star center.
