Five-star Cameron Reddish nearing a decision

The top wing in the 2018 class, Cameron Reddish, said he will decide between Duke, Kentucky, UCLA, Villanova and UConn, and that decision is coming 'sooner than people are expecting.'

Over the spring and summer, the five-star small forward has proven he can play at multiple positions and dominate the floor.

Currently, Reddish is in southern California for the Nike Skills Academy competing against players in his own class like Louis King, Emmitt Williams, Keldon Johnson and R.J. Barrett. College players he’ll have to face include Trevon Duval, Troy Brown and Marquese Bolden. It’s been a long spring and summer but Reddish says his body is holding up well.

“I feel great. I’m excited to compete here at the Nike Skills Academy and finish strong against tough competition,” Reddish said.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

Reddish narrowed things down to a top five out of 20 high-major offers. Kentucky, Duke, Villanova, UCLA and Connecticut have all made his cut for different reasons.

KENTUCKY: “Playing for Team USA under coach Cal gave me a pretty good idea of how he is as a coach. He likes to go and he’s super competitive. I totally understand why players want to play under him because he pushes everyone to be better.”

DUKE:Tre Jones just committed to Duke and we’ve become really close this summer. He’s my roommate here at Nike Skills and our parents are good friends so yeah, I would love to play with him. He’s definitely recruiting me hard to join him at Duke.”

VILLANOVA: “They’re the home school and I obviously know the coaching staff well. The fact that they’ve won in the last couple years and continue to build the program is appealing to me.”

CONNECTICUT: “I have a great relationship with Kevin Ollie and one of my best friends from preschool is a walk-on on the team so I could totally see myself playing with him."

UCLA: “I really like the school and I like the fast paced offense they run. They let their perimeter players shoot freely and they’re making moves in the Pac-12.”

WHAT'S NEXT

With Reddish hinting a commitment is coming soon, expect him to possibly only take one to two visits instead of all five visits before he makes his decision.

RIVALS REACTION

Reddish has said that he’s not worried about what other players are doing and where they’re committing, he’s just worried about the right fit for him. The fact that he’s rooming with Tre Jones at Nike Skills Academy and he's played for Kentucky’s coach Cal over the summer, I think it’s a toss up between Duke and Kentucky.
