Five Schools Interested In Simpson
With 22 days left until the end of the late signing period, Robert Simpson is still unclear about the future. The 6-foot-9, 239-pound combo forward from Mt. Zion Christian Academy in Durham, NC., is being recruited by several mid major programs, but has yet to schedule any official visits. Simpson is hoping to appear in several AAU events throughout the summer in hopes of attracting more attention.

“Robert just recently took the ACT,” Mt. Zion Christian Academy Head Coach Antonio Fozard said. “Right now he is working to improve his overall core GPA. I believe Robert has a GPA of 2.4 or 2.5, but he is looking to improve that.”
While its not clear when Simpson actually plans to have a decision about his future, there is no doubt that several mid major programs are interested in his services. He has received several scholarship offers, but no official visits have been scheduled at this time.
“No visits have been scheduled just yet,” Coach Fozard said. “Georgia State, UAB, East Carolina, Western Kentucky and Appalachian St. are the schools that have offered scholarships. I really hope to get Robert out on the summer circuit before he makes any decisions. I know he wants to take all five official visits, but I would like to get him a little more exposure.
“Its every kids dream to leave high school and be an impact player in college, so I know that is something Robert wants,” he added. “I really don’t see him going to a junior college. He wants to play basketball at the Division 1 level.”
