Five Have Come in for Lowry

A smattering of Atlantic 10 and Big 10 programs have been in to take a look at Philadelphia Cardinal Dougherty's 5-11 junior spark-plug Kyle Lowry this winter.
Rivalshoops.com caught up with Dougherty Head Coach Mark Heimerdinger following Dougherty's 54-50 loss to Camden Catholic last Sunday night at the Prime Time Shootout.

In that game, Lowry managed just 11 points and tried to carry too much of the burden on his shoulders. He forced some things down the stretch, but that's part of Lowry's aggressive nature that has helped the Cardinals win many games this winter.
Heimerdinger said that St. Joe's, Temple, Xavier, Michigan and Ohio State are among the colleges who have been in to take a look at the baby-faced floor general.
"Basically, what we are doing at this point is listening to whoever wants to throw their names in for next year," the coach added. "We will put together a list of five or six schools and then narrow the field down and go from there."
Lowry is a player who expends a tremendous amount of energy on the basketball court, and he's stronger than he looks. He often takes a physical pounding and will give up his body if it means making a play.
Lowry likes to score and rebounds well for a guard, and he's tough to keep from getting to the basket thanks to a quick first step. His penetrating ability allows him to create from the point guard position, and he has some teammates like Shane Clark, DeSean White and Bilal Benn who are capable of finishing plays after he breaks down the defense.
"He can score if he has to, but his first priorities are passing the basketball and distributing among his teammates," Coach Heimerdinger said. "Defensively, he has very good ability in terms of guarding."
