First Chaminade Junior All-Long Island

Danny Nawrocki, an intelligent 6'6'', 215 pound small forward from Chaminade High School in Mineola, NY, is a prospect many Ivy League and Patriot schools are keeping tabs on as the fall approaches.
Nawrocki, who competed this summer with The Long Island Lightning at The Charlie Weber Tournament in West Virginia, The 17 and under Nationals in Orlando, and The Vegas Big Time Tournament, has heard from nearly every Ivy and Patriot League school. Among some of the schools who have expressed interest include Princeton, Penn, Davidson, Marist, Quinnipiac, and Fairfield. Nawrocki does not have any offers yet.

A number of schools will be coming in in the fall to see Nawrocki work out, according to his coach with The Lightning, Bobby Paul. Paul is also an assistant varsity coach on the varsity at Chaminade.
"He was the first junior we've ever had at Chaminade to make All-Long Island," said Paul. "He was the first sophomore we brought up to the varsity in 30 years."
The biggest thing that might be hampering Nawrocki's recruitment is his size. At 6'6'', he's a bit undersized to play the four, despite his strength. Nawrocki is not a great athlete, but he has a strong upper body, as well as good savvy and passing ability for a big man. At Chaminade he has to play in the low post practically all of the time, but Nawrocki has shown flashes of a budding face-up game.
Danny is very fundamentally sound in the post. He plays for an excellent coach in Jim Quinn. The Flyers are a very well-schooled team.
Nawrocki carries a 90 average at Chaminade, one of the tougher schools in the Long Island-New York City area. He has scored 1200 on the SAT.
