Fields could wait until spring after all

There are less than 35 uncommitted players left on the Rivals top 150 list and Levance Fields is one of them. The 5-foot-10, 185-pound point guard from Xaverian High School in New York City might be one of the few that carries over to the spring signing period as still open.
Fields made his first official visit allotted to him to St. John’s on Oct. 9 and has an official visit to Pittsburgh this weekend. Each program has made an early impression on the nation’s No. 93 ranked player, particularly both schools’ style of play.

“I look at both of those schools and they have tough guards and play tough-nosed defense,” Fields said. “Coach Roberts likes tough guys and I know that is what they are looking for at Pitt, too. Both schools are good options.”
The outgoing floor general had a chance to see St. John’s, the local school, for the first time and came home impressed with the Red Storm.
“I had a great time there. I like the staff a lot. They are good group of guys. I enjoyed it all,” Fields said. “I could see myself playing there.”
With the trip to St. John’s under his belt, he knows what to expect with the visit to Pittsburgh this weekend.
“I know what to look for now and I’m looking forward to see what Pitt has to offer and if they have the best interest for me in mind,” Fields said. “They have my friend Chris Taft there and that certainly stands out.”
While the two Big East programs have made an early impression, Fields admits he could very well bypass the November signing period all together in order to see who else is interested in his services.
“Right now, I’m pretty much not sure what I’m going do,” Fields said. “DePaul and UConn called my coach but I don’t really know what they wanted. But I’m definitely going to sign in the late period unless something really catches my eye. I’m undecided really.”
Don’t write him off just yet.
