Favors has his day

The suspense is over. Elite post player Derrick Favors of South Atlanta High School has made it known where he will play his college ball.
In a televised news conference Favors announced his pledge to hometown Georgia Tech.

After saying it was very difficult getting it down to the three finalist of Georgia, Georgia Tech and North Carolina State, as expected Favors pulled out a Georgia Tech hat out of a bag.
The No. 4-ranked prospect in the Rivals150, Favors cited the desire to play close to home so his family could see him play as one of the main factors.
Georgia Tech, now ranked No. 9 in the Rivals.com Team Recruiting Rankings, will push toward the top of the rankings with the addition of Favors. He joins four-star prospects Kammeon Holsey, Glen Rice and Mfon Udofia along with Rivals150 three-star prospect Brian Oliver.
At 6 feet 9 and 220 pounds, Favors is a dominant defender and rebounder. He is also comfortable with the ball and has a productive offensive game. Although not as polished offensively as fellow elite post player DeMarcus Cousins, Favors is a better defender and more active rebounder than Cousins.
Favors and Cousins will square off Thursday night on the campus of UAB, where Cousins was once committed.
