FAU ready for a little Shine

Shavon Shine, a 6-foot-2, 190-pound guard from DeSoto High School in Arcadia, Fla., has given a verbal commitment to Florida Atlantic University.
Shine, a talented athlete with a quick and accurate trigger from deep, is a major score for the Sun Belt conference team, according to his Florida Rams AAU coach Matt Ramker.

"He's going to be a great get for Florida Atlantic," Ramker said. "(Shine) is a kid the brings that really shoots the ball well and he's a tremendous athlete that coach Walters can mold into one of his own guys."
Shine also emerged as a football prospect this season and has performed nicely as a quarterback/defensive back/punt returner. A number of equal level schools recruited the dual-sport star but hoops was where his heart is, Ramker says.
"He loves basketball," Ramker said. "He likes it a lot more than football and saw opportunity to play. Coach (Rex) Walters is bringing the program up and I think Shay is ready to put all of his efforts towards basketball.
"He's flying heavily under the radar. He was our seventh or eighth guy in the rotation and he brought us tremendous energy to our team. He could have played for a couple of other teams but he relished in his role and did everything he was asked to do."
